Management Weight management is a very personal matter. Any advice sought is best done on a one-on-one basis with a programme that is tailored to your specific needs. As a Naturopath I will assess your general state of health
first. Your Body Mass Index and body
fat are measured to establish your ideal weight. We gain a picture of your life style and eating habits. You then establish You may simply attend one or two personal tutorial sessions, which provides you with the basics of fat loss and weight gain. For both fat loss and weight gain you'll learn the principles of why and how the body gains or loses mass. You'll learn about fat loss through a low carbohydrate diet (also known as the Ketogenic diet, and well before that, Dr Atkins diet), how to apply such a diet, and why it works. For a low carbohydrate program to be effective, you'll need a comprehensive food table and to be able to test if the diet is working. I can supply you with both the required food counter and test-strips. In summary, I'll take your initial measurements; provide you with the tools and give you the theory you need to then administer the program yourself. For weight gain, I'll teach you the principles of weight gain and muscle toning and discuss your diet and exercise regime with you in order to put you on the road to increasing your weight. Your second option is to then engage in another 3 to 6 weeks of monitoring and advice to assist you with your program. During that period you will make a weekly visit to weigh-in; get measured; assess your progress; and receive advice for the week ahead. A detailed status report is kept during this period to follow your progress. You will also be asked to keep a food diary so that I can give further advice if necessary. A Naturopath is a specialist trained in separate and distinct healing modalities that use non-invasive assessment techniques and complementary natural medicines. The main thrust of naturopathic practice is the belief that the body has an innate ability to heal itself. The role of a Naturopath is to work with you to promote the natural healing powers of your body. Naturopathy does neither replace nor compete with mainstream medicine; it complements and can work with mainstream medicine to restore and / or maintain optimum health. Naturopathy is rooted in the belief that health is more than just the absence of disease and works on strengthening the body's natural defences. Naturopathy
